EFFECT OF TRANSITION METAL DOPANT ON STRUCTURAL AND THERMAL PROPERTIES OF POLYPYRROLE

Polypyrrole and tungstate doped polypyrrole composites of different weight percentage have been prepared by chemical oxidation polymerization technique by using ammonium persulphate as oxidizing agent. All the samples of polypyrrole and polypyrrole composites of tungstate of different concentration were characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM and DSC techniques. The FTIR spectra of polyprrole and its composites of tungstate revealed the polymerization of pyrrole and successful doping of tungstate in polypyrrole. XRD analysis showed amorphous nature of polypyrrole and crystallinity of polypyrrole composites. The SEM monographs showed globular shape particles of polypyrrole and uniform distribution of tungstate in polypyrrole matrix. The DSC analysis reveals that the thermal stability of polypyrrole was enhanced by doping of tungstate in polypyrrole matrix.
